A big hello from me, I’m Barbara Trotman. I’m a Brit living in Barbados and owner and manager of letting fabulous vacation apartments in Barbados. I’m getting very excited about what is now a much anticipated Caribbean event taking place in Bridgetown, Barbados, so I thought I would share it with you. It’s BB Fashion Week 2012, attracting over 25 designers from 10 countries. It kicks off in a few days time on the 25th October and is four fun filled days and nights of runway shows, fabulous parties and networking opportunities guaranteed to keep patrons, celebrities, sponsors and the media captivated. It’s a not to be missed event for all you fashionistas out there!

My role as a CEO, responsible for renting vacation apartments in Barbados, entails that I should always look good, well a girl can only try can’t she? Which is why fashion week is fast becoming one of my favourite Barbados events!

The Fashion Gala commences at 7pm on the first evening with a “Toast to Fashion Dress For It” affair.  No excuses now – there’s plenty of time for you to get there after work. Home first to freshen up, don your gladdest of glad rags and off you go!

The following day the Barbados Fashion Extravaganza continues featuring upcoming and established designers including a presentation of designers from the Adopt-a Designer programme showing their 2013 ready-to-wear collections, which is right up my street! A later start time of 8pm means you can grab an early dinner and a wine or two before you head off.

If you can get there during the day, why not get involved in the Passion Workshops? With topics which include Make-up Artistry, Fashion Marketing and Media, Model Development and The Business of Design. These workshops run from 10am until 2pm. Make-up artistry for me I think – no comments required!  Again in the evening be thrilled with the Caribbean Fashion Fiesta and a showcase of regional designers.

On the last day, the International Couture and Finale wraps up the whole glittering event featuring the collections of some of the world’s top fashion designers. Prepare to be dazzled.

There’s truly something for everyone so do try and make it if you can, it’s going to be guaranteed fun.  So next time you see me at my day job, taking care of my guests at my vacation apartments in Barbados, I do hope my attire passes your approval. My motto – look good, feel good!
