Beaches of Barbados

With over 70 miles of beautiful beaches, it can be a task in itself just choosing one. Here’s your ultimate rundown of everything you need to know to plan the perfect day out by the sea.
Cattlewash Beach – East Coast
Located in the parish of St Joseph, Cattlewash Beach offers long stretches of untouched coastline, perfect for those idyllic seaside walks.
Battered by the strong Atlantic winds, it’s not ideal for swimming, but there are several mineral-rich pools you can enjoy if you feel the need to cool off.
Bathsheba Beach – East Coast
Also on the rugged east coast, Bathsheba Beach (a.k.a. the Soup Bowl) is famous for its international surf competitions and stunning rock formations scattered along the shore.
Though the waters are rough and unsuited for swimming, this picturesque spot is full of charm. The small fishing town of Bathsheba is home to a few local rum shops and restaurants worth exploring.
Crane Beach – Southeast Coast
Set in St Philip, Crane Beach is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Barbados. Once a harbour, it was rated by Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous as “one of the ten best beaches in the world”.
The sea is choppy and ideal for boogie boarding. The long stretch of white sand backed by trees provides afternoon shade. Vendors offer chairs, umbrellas, soft drinks and beer.
Above the beach sits The Crane Resort & Residences, established in 1867, offering luxurious accommodation, multiple pools and spas. You can also enjoy their Sunday brunch with live gospel singing — bookings essential.
For casual dining, try Cutters Deli, a local favourite with a diverse menu you won’t easily find elsewhere.
Miami Beach – South Coast
Also known as Enterprise Beach, this scenic beach in the parish of Christ Church is beloved by locals — especially on weekends and public holidays.
The western side has calm, child-friendly waters, while the eastern side can have stronger swells. Lifeguards are on duty for added safety.
The beach has a laid-back vibe, with vendors renting umbrellas and boogie boards. Don’t miss the Mr. Delicious food truck (actually an old bus!), serving up some of the island’s best fishcakes.
There are picnic benches, shady trees, and even locals doing fitness routines. Nearby, Little Arches Hotel and its restaurant, Café Luna, are perfect for a post-beach meal (reservations recommended).
Bonus: Miami Beach is right next to Oistins, famous for its Friday night fish fry!
Worthing Beach – South Coast
Also called Sandy Beach, Worthing Beach is great for families and beginner swimmers, thanks to its calm, reef-protected waters.
Local fishermen often return here with fresh catches, giving it an authentic charm. Two beachfront bars — Carib and Crystal Waters — serve drinks and snacks. Carib is more suited for sit-down meals, while Crystal Waters is known for its lively Sunday BBQ and live music.
Their BBQ 101 is hosted by a local family and delivers superb local cuisine at great value.
Accra Beach (Rockley Beach) – South Coast
Located in Christ Church, Accra Beach is one of the most energetic beaches on the island. Just a 15-minute walk from St Lawrence Gap, it's popular with both tourists and locals.
The waves are playful and fun, ideal for bodyboarding or beginner surfing. Expect a vibrant atmosphere and lots of sun-soaked activity.
Carlisle Bay / Brownes Beach – Bridgetown Area
Close to the cruise port, Brownes Beach is part of Carlisle Bay, known for its soft white-pink sand and crystal-clear, calm waters.
It's a hotspot for day-trippers, offering everything from lobster lunches at Lobster Alive to beach packages at The Boatyard — including chairs, trampolines, and live music.
For local fare, check out Coco Cabana, serving grilled chicken, fish and Bajan favourites. In the evening, you’ll see locals jogging, kids playing, and even racehorses being exercised from nearby Garrison Savannah.
Don’t leave without catching one of the legendary sunsets — a memory you’ll treasure.
Mullins Bay – West Coast
With golden sand and calm, turquoise waters, Mullins Beach is perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and water sports.
The beach is popular, so arrive early, especially in peak season. A new car park is just across the road for added convenience.
The Mullins Beach Bar & Restaurant offers excellent food, delicious cocktails, and a friendly vibe — the perfect end to a relaxing beach day.
